About STEVE McALLISTER

Steven McAllister's study of the trombone began on an alto trombone at the age of three. Training came from his father, Bob McAllister, who was a long time member of the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra's trombone section. More training came from notable trombonists such as Gail Wilson, Pete Vivona, Carl Fontana, Jiggs Wigham, Bill Watrous, Joe Alessi, Ralph Sauer, Mark Lawrence and many others.

As a professional musician, the trombone has taken Steve throughout the United States, Europe, Africa, and South America.

Steve has performed with such artists/ band as the Harry James Band, the Dorsey Bands, the Glenn Miller Band, the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra, Boston Brass All-Star Big Band, Southwest Brass, Esteban, The Temptations, Frankie Valli, Diana Ross, and many more.

Steve also records occasional T.V. jingles including recordings used by the Arizona Diamondbacks, Desert Diamond Casino, and PBS "Horizons". Currently Steve teaches in Mesa, Arizona where he has been featured on "Education T.V." - "Great Performances By Master Teachers Vol. #52".

Steve also maintains a private trombone studio, stays busy as a freelance trombonist, and is persuing a doctorate in trombone performance at A.S.U.

Teaching is a life-long pursuit to which he dedicates himself. Drawing from his family, personal interest and strong experience in the field, McAllister stays well-informed of current curriculum strategies appropriate in today's Arts classrooms.

In recognition of his educational accomplishments, he was recently featured on EdTV, a television broadcast produced by Mesa Public Schools.
