Steven McAllister

Steve McAllister's musical study began on an alto trombone at the age of three. Training on the trombone came from Steve's father, Bob McAllister, who was a long time member of the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra's trombone section and, like Steve's mother, was a former "Arizona Teacher of the Year". Over the following years, more training was received from notable trombonists such as Carl Fontana, Jiggs Wigham, Bill Watrous, Joe Alessi, and Mark Lawrence - to name only a few.

As a professional trombonist, music has taken Steve throughout the United States, Europe, Africa, and South America. Steve has performed with the Boston Brass Big Band, The Pussycat Dolls, Frank Stallone, Michael Buble, Patrick Swayze, Mexsal, Pan-Am, Southwest Brass, Phoenix Symphony Orchestra, Natalie Cole, Johnny Mathis, Estaban, Diane Schuur, Frankie Valli, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Dianna Ross, Reba McEntire, Jackie Evancho, Clay Aiken, The Harry James Orchestra, the Glenn Miller Band, the Dorsey Bands, and countless others.

Steve was featured on Mesa Public School's "Education T.V." - "Great Performances By Master Teachers - Vol. #52". He also maintains a private trombone studio of elementary students through doctoral students, stays busy as a freelance trombonist playing everything from Broadway shows to TV jingles, and is pursuing a doctorate in trombone performance from Arizona State University. Steve is a featured soloist with and winner of the "2010 International Trombone Association's - Kai Winding Jazz Trombone Ensemble Contest".
